Why Vehicles Lose Energy From Fuel

When you buy your fuel perhaps you do not realize that only about 15 per cent of the energy from the fuel in the tank is used to move your car down the road or run your accessories. Wonder what happens to the rest of the fuel energy? If you think that you are getting your money's worth think again! Your fuel consumption is used up by the engine, and driveline inefficiencies. Idling that is when the vehicle is setting still with the motor still running takes up a large per cent of your fuel as well.

There is a great potential in advanced technology for anyone who is interested in creating resources that help prevent the loss of energy from fuel in a vehicle. It is estimated that in gasoline-powered vehicles about sixty-two percent of the fuel's energy is lost in the internal combustion engine. While there are some things that are available to help prevent some of these losses unfortunately they are not in use for the consumers benefit as of yet. The auto makers are in the process of adding some of these mainline features to the newer vehicles. This will greatly reduce the amount of energy the consumer will get from the fuel. When the energy level is there then the mileage from your vehicle on gas will improve. The bottom line of course for the consumer is the ability to go farther distances and save on fuel. The auto makers are hoping with the new government program that is going to help their manufacturing they will be able to install variable valve timing and lift, turbo charging, direct fuel injection and cylinder deactivation can be used to reduce losses.

Some of the things that are created are just now being installed on the newer vehicles that will be in the market for this new year. You need to watch for these things before you make a decision to buy your vehicle. You want to get the best mileage that you can from your vehicle hoping that it is not losing too much of its energy before you even start it down the highway. You also need to make sure that you are doing the best driving you can to help save on energy loses. Letting your car set and idle loses about 17% of energy so there are things you can do to prevent this energy loss. Until many of these things are implemented there is very little that a consumer can do to prevent energy loss.
